Google has launched the “Google 2023 Solution Challenge” event. Here you’ll have to build a solution to a local problem using Google technologies, by one or more of the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals. This opportunity is only open to Google Developer Students Club or GDSC members. But, If you’re not a GDSC member, then don’t worry. We’ll share everything in detail.

About United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals: It was created by the United Nations in 2015, with support from all 193 United Nations Member States, the 17 Sustainable Development Goals aim to end poverty, ensure prosperity, and protect the planet.

Benefits:

The top 100 teams will get T-shirts, certificates, and mentorship from Google and other experts to improve and submit a solution for the top prize.

The top 10 teams will get Win a $1,000 cash prize per team member and a feature in the Google Developers Blog and global demo Day live stream, plus mentorship with a Google expert, swag, and a certificate.

The top 3 teams will get Win a $3,000 cash prize per team member and a feature in the Google Developers Blog and global demo day live stream, plus mentorship with a Google expert, swag, and a certificate.

Timeline:

Step 1: Join a Google Developer Student Club- First, you’ve to join the GDSC club. Click here and visit the GDSC community page. Then sign-up and join the GDSC club of your college or the nearest available college.

Step 2: Form a team and register- Form a team of 1 to 4 persons. One of the team members must attend university. Members should have technical and soft skills.

Step 3: Select a UN Sustainable Development Goal- Select a goal of personal interests and needs in your community that you would like to solve with technology.

Step 4: Identify a solution- One way to identify a solution is by using a Design Sprint, a flexible framework for solving problems through designing, prototyping, and testing ideas with users over a 5-day sprint.

Step 5: Design the user interface- This is where your solution’s user interface and user experience come in. Start thinking about how a user will interact with the solution.

Step 6: Design the backend technology- Follow the learning pathways on the Resources page to help you plan and design the backend.

Step 7: Test your solution- Test your solution and collect feedback from others.

Step 8: Iterate on your project- Modify and iterate on your project, based on feedback.

Step 9: Record a demo video, and submit it by March 31, 2023- Record a video of a successful demo (maximum 2 minutes long) and submit it using this form.
